Can I crush Nifedipine ER tablets?
No. Extended-release (ER/XR) tablets are designed to release the drug slowly over 24 hours. Crushing them destroys this mechanism, releasing all the drug at once, which can cause dangerously low blood pressure.

Nifedipine causes selective dilation of precapillary arterioles, which increases pressure in the capillaries, leading to fluid leaking into surrounding tissues (edema).
