Pantoprazole is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD], stomach ulcers, and conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome where the stomach produces too much acid.
Used for GERD, stomach ulcers, erosive esophagitis, and hypersecretory conditions.
Provides relief from heartburn and acid reflux, facilitates healing of esophagus and stomach lining.
Inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase pump (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells, blocking the final step of acid secretion.
Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect from moisture.
It is best taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Combine with lifestyle modifications like avoiding spicy food.
While highly safe, long-term use (years) can lead to vitamin B12 malabsorption, magnesium deficiency, and increased risk of osteoporosis.
Taking it after food reduces its effectiveness. It should be taken at least 30-60 minutes before meals.
